Novermber Fitness Challenge
November is the month of Thanksgiving and feasting in the United States. However, it is also the start of the month for overeating. When I used to work in a corporate fitness center, we would hold a turkey trot that would go through the holidays to New Year's Day.
Most Americans gain from .8 to one pound from Thanksgiving until New Year's Day. Even though it doesn't seem like a lot of weight, it has been found that if one doesn't lose those pounds, it can become a 10-pound gain after a decade.
I had a client who would gain weight yearly around Christmas because she would cut back on her training sessions and host two cookie-baking parties in December. In January it would have to start all over from scratch. It was also frustrating for my client.
One year, I decided to have a challenge for my clients. If they finished the challenge they had a chance to win prizes. It was a successful challenge with no one gaining weight, either they maintained or they lost weight. Challenges like my turkey trot keep people on track by having them concentrate on their fitness and weight loss goals during a busy holiday season.
With my Turkey Trot Challenge, you can color the numbers to represent the days you exercised. You can also use the tracker to show how many pounds you lost during the holidays. Additionally, feel free to use the tracker in any way you want, even to help you maintain your weight during the festive season.
I have three trackers, one for 30 days. With the 36-day tracker, you start two days after Thanksgiving, or you can begin on Thanksgiving week (40 days). Turkey Trot into the new year to a healthier spirit and body.
Tell your friends or get your co-workers to do the challenge with you. See if you can have your employer offer prizes for the finishers. You can set your own rules for the challenge and feel free to send me an email on what you are doing.
