ProLon -The Fasting Mimicking Diet Results


I had the opportunity to try the ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet, and this is how it went.

The ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet is a 5-day dietary program. The ProLon FastingMimicking Diet provides many benefits of a fast while furnishing you with nutrients. The ProLon method helps to lose weight while protecting your lean body mass. You become leaner and your receive the many associated benefits of fasting without requiring ongoing lifestyle changes, such as long-term dieting. In a clinical study, ProLon has shown that  one week per month for three months helped individuals lose an average of 5.7 pounds and 1.6 inches off their waist circumference.

What does the plan provide?

You will get a meal plan in five individual packets with ProLon water bottle. All what you're supposed to consume in the five days is in the box. See the picture below. The first day provides at 1100 calories and was the easiest day. The rest of the day's caloric intake was about 800 calories.

I started on Monday but should have started on Thursday because I teach three fitness classes on Wednesday, and the people at ProLon want you to abstain from heavy exercise or activity while on the program.

 I was in the ProLon Facebook group, and many members stated they continue with their workouts without any issues. Since I had a bicycle accident a month ago and suffered from a concussion and a chipped tooth, I was afraid to exercise thinking; I cannot afford another head injury if I fall out. 

I restarted the program on Thursday, and I have to tell you it is hard. You're only taking in 800 calories, and you might be hungry. I was so hungry one night I had a hard time sleeping so, I decided to wait and consume the food later in the day. Saving most of my food closer to bedtime helped minimize the hunger pains at night.

The Results 

I started the program weighing in at 146 pounds (66.4 kg). My Sunday morning weigh in was 143.1 pounds (65 kg). Skin fold body fat measurement were also taken. I measured in four areas on my body.

After 5-days, I had some decent results. And I can see how this program can help one lose weight and improve one's health over time. In the Facebook group, some people are on their 5th cycle (month 5). I can tell you I felt less bloated, and internally I felt better. It also makes you think about how you will continue doing mindful eating after the five days are up.

What are the Pros and Cons of the ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet

You don't have to worry about what to eat because the program lays everything out for you. For me, the food was okay, and I ate the olives even though I am not an olive fan. Adding black pepper and hot pepper flakes gave the soups a boost for me. I LOVED the fasting bars.

Cons: You probably will be hungry, so get on the Facebook group for added support. For some, the plant-based soups are horrible. If you like to eat with your family, it could be very hard. If they are enjoying a tasty meal and you only have the soup and tea to consume, it could spell disaster. Lastly, it is not cheap. The program is $189 a month. However, they do have a payment plan.

For right now, I will stick to my 16-hour fasts. However, ProLon made me conscious of what I am consuming after I break the fast. In the future, I will have 1500-1800 calories a day in conjunction with intermittent fasting.  The ProLon program will see me again soon.
