You might have heard the term clear the shelters. If not, it is a day when animal shelters in the United States encourage people to come in and adopt an animal. I'm doing the same thing, asking you to clear out or donate fitness equipment you are no longer using. Below are easy decluttering tips to get you started in your exercise room.
  1. Throw away broken equipment.  If you have any broken equipment such as broken weights, ankle weights, rubber tubing or anything that is being held together with duct tape, throw it out. If the equipment is large items such as treadmills or bikes and they cannot be fixed, those items need to be removed from your home too. You can call a local junk removal company in your area.
  2. Get rid of the equipment you haven't used in years.  Are there aerobic steps, DVD's, dumbbells rubber tubing that has been sitting in a box or corner for years, it is time to get rid of the items too. You can sell these items on eBay, Amazon or you can donate them to a local thrift shop or Salvation Army. If you have a large item like a bike or treadmill, you can also sell it on eBay. I bought my stationary bike from eBay. Play It Again Sports could buy some of your small and large ticket items if they are in good shape.
  3. Rearrange your fitness equipment in your home.  Keep your workout area clean by using weight or dumbbell racks or Tupperware bins to hold your smaller items.
After clearing out and clean your fitness room, you might rediscover a piece of equipment you have forgotten about and would like to start using again, you never know.
