The Best Detergent For Stinky Activewear
If your life revolves around fitness or if you have children that play on a lot of sports teams, you know how smelly exercise clothes can get. I have found that Tide Sports detergent with Febreze is the best detergent for cleaning and getting out sweat stains and odors.
Some of the reviews on the Tide site reveal that some people do not like the smell of the Tide, while others found no problems with the Tide after smell. If you find the smell, not to your liking, this is a way to still use the Sports Tide and use your detergent you prefer.
Get a spray bottle and add two cups of water, one cup of ammonia and half a cap full of the Tide's Sport with Febreze detergent. Spray the underarms and crotch area of the clothes and let them sit for 10 minutes before washing. This concoction will help to eliminate most odors. Try it and let me know if this helps to get rid of those stinky sweat smells.
You can find Sports Tide in Walmart, Target, and many grocery stores. You can also buy it on Amazon.
I wash my exercise clothes separately from my other clothes and I use cold water.

ReplyDeleteI wash them in the regular laundry BUT instead of putting any damp or sweaty workout clothes in the clothes hamper we put them directly in the empty washing machine, so no one else has to touch them while dirty & they don't make the other dry dirty clothes grosser either. Then I immediately add other dirty laundry to make a full load along with the soap etc and hot water and dry with nice scented fabric softener when clean. It works well for us but I would love to see how Tide Sport works in comparison to what I normally use, which is Gain Original scent laundry pods and Gain Fabric softener sheets, since I have never tried Tide Sport before and my husband works out HARD at the gym with weights often, so it would get put to good use!
ReplyDeleteMy VERY favorite exercise is swimming laps! I feel SO blessed & grateful that our apt. complex not only has a huge beautiful outdoor pool in the summer, but also a wonderful indoor pool all year around especially since I live in Southeast Michigan. My husband's favorite workout is lifting heavy free weights, although he does get carried away and has ended up in the hospital with Rhabdo & ever since that happened he gets that easily but still loves his weights although claims he has lowered the intensity somewhat.
