Protect Yourself While Running

Delphi-murders

Update on Delphi murders: Delphi murder case and Podcast (Down The Hill)

Last week, two teenage girls went hiking near their home in northwest Indiana, they were later found murdered. The two girls were dropped off at the Delphi Historic trail by relatives and when they came to pick up the teens, they didn't return so they called the police. Their bodies were later discovered near Deer Creek in Delphi.

I don't know why their family members let them hike alone, but maybe it is a small town, they thought it was safe. It is very dangerous to hike, run or go walking in desolate areas like nature trails and etc. Try to go hiking, running or walking with a buddy or a guard dog. If you are caught alone and attacked, it is good to have a weapon like Tiger Lady.
Tiger Lady is a self-defense weapon based on cat claws that you can carry while you are running, walking or hiking. According to the website, Tiger Lady is easy to carry and is simple and powerful to use. It is also great for collecting DNA from the perpetrator. Read more about how it works here.

Even though we should not to go hiking in wooded areas or trails by ourselves, sometimes things just happen. It is better to have some type of mace or claw-like Tiger Lady to protect you.

Do you know anyone who has been attacked while jogging or exercising?

  1. I wouldn't mind running with this. As a rule, I try to avoid running in the dark, or alone, but I would love something like this for added protection.

  2. Wow, that's really sad. I bet the families thought the girls would be OK together? I try to only run/walk/hike where I feel safe. I'm not sure I could use a "weapon" the right way if I needed to.

  4. I go hiking and running on my local trails by myself all the time. And I spent a LOT of time in the woods as a teenager. I don't think it's uncommon, or unrealistic to let two teenagers go for a hike, but I do think you/they should be prepared in the event of an emergency.

  5. My first ever 8-mile run happened because a guy was calling after me, so I didn't dare loop back the way I came. I do know others who were attacked. I've got pepper spray but this thing looks pretty terrifying.

  8. So sad about the two teenage girls. I just read about a woman shot running at 5 AM. This happened only a couple hours away from here. I have two tazers to run with. You never can be too careful.

  9. I don't know anyone personally but there have been random attacks in our major city a while back. I'd probably run with one for peace of mind.

  11. There have been a few women who have been attacked while running in my area. I sometimes carry mace, but not always. This looks really great.

  13. Such a sad story. I'm a Forensic Scientist and I always warn people about running or doing any outdoor activities alone especially on a trail or path not near residential areas. Small towns or not, you just never know whose hanging around anymore. It's sad we have to think like that.
