Can or Should Older Women Wear Crop Tops?
On my favorite morning news channel, they reported that crop tops are making a comeback this spring and summer. I got excited for a second until I realized, I may not qualify given the fact that it all comes down to a bare middle. Should age determine who is to wear such outfits or would a flat abdominal section do the trick regardless of age?
When is it time to put away or give away outfits that are somewhat revealing? What if an older woman doesn't look her age, should she still not wear clothes that are meant for the people she looks like? This question has always intrigued me. I think I would rather see an older woman with toned abs in a crop top than a younger person with a large belly wearing one. What do you think?
I'm 51 and asked my husband if he thought I could wear this. He said no. I used to wear clothes like this all the time when I was younger. Actually I've just gotten rid of most of them. My stomach is and always has been flat, but I’m not comfortable showing skin anymore.
ReplyDeleteI remember talking to a woman at the gym who’d just returned from a vacation that had included her 14 year old son and a few of his friends. After the trip her son told her she was too old to be wearing a bikini – she was 39. Apparently his friends thought she was hot and he didn’t like that.
I'm sure you are right - there are many older women who would look better bearing our midriff than the younger ones do.
I have that same dilemma but I guess there is an age that you shouldn't but what is that age? hmmm
DeleteThis is a hard one. I don't think you're too old, Sheila. But I think at some point people are. But mostly I think if you feel good in it (and a lot of that comes down to dressing for your body type,) then wear it. Screw everyone else and their judgey judgments.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree with you on this Femme and thanks for visiting.
DeleteI am of the opinion if your boobs arent at the 'bottom' of the crop top wear it. Honestly life is too short to worry about it. There are some that look good in anything some that dont and others who dont care and wear it anyway.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, your boobs aren't at the bottom is so funny. Well, we might see a lot of that soon. ;-)
DeleteStyle, fashion s for everyone, there is no age limit, wanna look like an angel please do shopping @ People Tops
ReplyDeleteHello I believe a person should wear whatever they like in modest fashion. If you have the body for it I say wear it and wear it well.
ReplyDeleteThanks and I will, once I believe I'm ready.
DeleteThere is a time and a place for the crop top. I don't think age has anything to do with it. If you can wear it and not look ridiculous I say go for it! Some of us look better now than we did in our 20's!
ReplyDeleteHmm I think it's all up to personal taste and what you want to express with your clothes. I'm still in my twenties but I'm not sure I'd wear a crop top, no matter what shape my abs are in, but that's more a personal comfort and modesty thing.
ReplyDeleteMs. Ernestine Shepherd wears her crop tops when the weather permits and she is in her 70's. She looks fantastic and if I had her body I would walk around like that too. I say wear it as long as you like. :-)
ReplyDeleteI say rock what ya got! It's all about what YOU feel comfortable in, not what other people think. I'm in my late 30's and wouldn't wear one, but I think that has always been my personality. It's not about age. #wowlinkup
ReplyDeleteI haven't worn a crop top since high-school, but I don't see any problem with a woman of any age wearing one as long as she's comfortable. Especially if she is in great shape and has worked hard to have a great flat stomach :)
ReplyDeletethere shouldn't be any problem for wearing crop tops and you also can online shop for tops. there are so many websites available..!!!
