I do in-home personal training and I actually use my car more for business than for personal use. My trunk of my truck is full of fitness equipment. If you are like me and use your car for your own business, you need to do some research to find out what vehicle will work best for you.

Here are some questions you should ask yourself first :
  • Should you buy a truck or SUV especially if you are going to haul heavy equipment?
  • Will you buy are lease a vehicle?
  • Will you pay cash for the car or will you take out a loan?

Research

When I decided to buy a new SUV I did my homework and I knew what I wanted. My SUV was a 2000 X-terra and I loved that truck. I wanted a new X-terra but Nissan wasn't doing any new upgrades with the X-terra. My new SUV had to have Bluetooth, cargo space, and good gas mileage, this was none negotiable. Write down what you want in your new vehicle and cars.com is an excellent site to do research on a new or used automobile. Car.com is more than a research site. It allows you to research and compare cars, find local dealers and sellers, calculates loan payments, finds your car’s value, sells or trade your car, gets a service estimate, and etc. Read more about how car.com conducts car seat safety checks.

Loan or No Loan

You don't want to buy more than what you can afford, so you might want to lease or save up and pay for the SUV without using credit. Cars.com has loan payment and car finance calculators to make your car buying a little easier.

Test Drive

When I bought my Nissan Rogue, I took it on a test drive and I wanted to see if it had adequate cargo space for my fitness equipment. I also wanted to make sure it was great on gas. Even though gas has gone down in the last few years, you never know if a catastrophe will happen and cause gas prices to rise. High fuel prices can be hard on businesses that depend upon transportation to do their business.

When To Buy

Are you need a new vehicle when the economy is bad but your business is doing well, this would be a great time to buy because car dealerships offer all types of incentives to sell their cars. If the economy is rolling along fine, try to hold off and buy your car in December and January. New car models come out in the fall and dealerships try to get rid of the current year models at the end of the year.

Do you use your car or truck for business?
