Giving Tuesday 2015

Update 2016

If you are turned off by all the gift buying and the mad rush from Black Friday, you might want to get to know about a day that is starting to gain some attention called Giving Tuesday.

Born in 2012, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season and focuses on the true meaning of the holiday. Giving Tuesday harnesses the power of social media and the generosity of people to bring attention to charities worldwide.

Since this is a fitness and health blog, I will provide links to charities that have a fitness and wellness philosophy.

Active Heroes’ mission is to strengthen active duty military, veterans and their families in order to provide the coping skills to manage the stress and the triggering points that lead to military veteran suicide.

Located in Louisville Kentucky, Active Heroes has a community center that offers a place where veterans and their families can relax and take part in activities such as Crossfit, self defense and music lessons and etc.

Since 1877, The Fresh Air Fund, a not-for-profit agency, has provided free summer experiences in the country to more than 1.8 million New York City children from low-income communities.

Girls on the Run inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Action for Healthy Kids makes schools healthier places so kids can live healthier lives. We have identified three complimentary elements required to make our work successful. It all adds up to the Every Kid Healthy™ Equation.

If you don't like the charities above, make sure you take part in #GivingTuesday and donate to a charity of your choice.
