The 2015 Humana Rock & Roll Half Marathon In Chicago

I'm walking the 10k Race

The Humana Rock & Roll Half Marathon is the week of July 17-19, 2015.  The 5k is Saturday, July 18, 2015, and the 10k and half marathon are the very next day.  I will be walking in the 10K or the half marathon, I haven't decided yet.

The Humana Rock & Roll Marathon is a three day event with a health and fitness expo at McCormick Place in Hall D1 on Friday and Saturday. On race day is when all the fun happens because there are live rock bands and entertainment along the whole course route.  If you need an extra push on race day, these bands will keep you moving and your mind rocking and rolling. Andy Grammer will headlining the Toyota Rock and Roll concert series. For the Saturday 5k, the band The Student Body, will be rocking the 5k runners. As you can see, there will be a lot of things to feast your eyes and ears on, so don't wait to the last moment the register.

The team at Humana has put together a Vitality Cheer Squad so that if you are participating in the race, you can ask friends and family to send you motivational messages that will be displayed on the course. WOW, that is so nice that you will able to read your loved one's words of encouragement while you are racing. If you aren't participating and you know someone who is, you can also send them messages to keep them moving and motivated. Check out the Humana Vitality Cheer Squad here.

Some of you might be asking why aren't you running the 10K? I can't run anymore due to arthritis I have in both of my knees. My running days have been over for quite a while and I wrote about it in a post called, There is Life After Running.  However, my deep affection of participating in organized fitness events still remains one of my favorite spring-time and summer-time hobbies.  I love the festivities, the accomplishment you feel when you finish and the swag you get at these events.

Humana is trying to get people to #RockYourHealth. I'm will be doing that by not giving in to my condition and walking further than I have in a long-time. I will also try to drag a few of my clients along with me. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or seasoned exerciser, we all need to rock our health from time to time.

I will ask a few of my clients and/or friends to join me but if they can't, I will participating by myself. I'm sure I will make a few friends along the race route with this fun and lively event. Don't miss out, register today.
