How To Make Biscuits From Scratch
I had a taste for biscuits so I got on YouTube to find a "how to make biscuits from scratch" video. I found one that showed that they are easy and quick to make. Two weeks ago, I became a biscuit expert. Not really, but I did do a great job, even my dad who is a picky eater approved of them. This is the video I found that shows you a way to make biscuits without a fuss.
Cooking Light is my go to place for nutritious and tasty cooking. I found two recipes you might want give a try. Since, I'm growing purple basil, I actually found a recipe that has purple basil in their biscuit recipe. I made flaky buttermilk biscuits first and then I tried purple basil parmesan biscuits. The buttermilk ones came out great and purple basil come out even better, because their texture was light and flaky. This is the picture of my first attempt at making biscuits, nice don't you think. They didn't come out as brown as I liked, so my mom suggested that I bake them at 425 degrees instead of 400.

Have you ever made biscuits from scratch? If not, what's stopping you?
I always thought making biscuits from scratch would be very difficult so I've been buying the ones in the tube. After watching this I realize it is not as hard as I thought! Thanks
ReplyDeleteMaria let me know if you make them.
DeleteI agree, making biscuits from scratch is very easy. Just make sure to not handle the dough much. The fluffiest biscuits come from patting out the dough by hand before cutting. Using a rolling pin squeezes out too much air making flatter biscuits :)
ReplyDeleteI'm making them again tonight, my sister requested them. I will try your method of no rolling out the dough.
DeleteThanks a lot for sharing Sheila! These biscuits look so-o-o good! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHey Twin, I hope you are able to make them one day.
DeleteOh yumm! From scratch biscuits is my hubby's latest kick (of course, right when I am trying my darndest to stay low low carb) I think he will be very interested in your recipes.

You can be low carb 6 days a week and eat carbs one day and then back to your low carb eating.

ReplyDeleteso yummy :))
ReplyDeleteI have made biscuits from scratch and they turned out ok. I now buy them from a can or a mix. But I should give it a try again!
ReplyDeleteThey came out great! I'm amazed you found a recipe with purple basil. I like making biscuits from scratch because mixes often have fats that I don't want. It is nice to not have to wait for the dough to rise like making rolls. I love biscuits with salad, anything! You can get creative with the ingredients!
ReplyDeleteI have never made biscuits from scratch, but I'd love to give it a try, thank you for this post
ReplyDeleteHomemade biscuits look easier than I assumed they would be. And they look delicious! I will definitely have to make these.
