The Perils Of Wearing A Flirty Dress

What was your "aha" moment for getting in shape?

This is how I met one of my closest gal pals.  It was back in the late 1990's when this happened to her.  Her husband was picking her up from the mall and he had a co-worker in the car with him.  The minute he pulled up, the wind blew up her dress.  She didn't realize because her stomach wasn't flat, at the time it was quite large for her size, that her dress was resting on the top of her stomach. She was so embarrassed by her undies and everything exposed for everyone to see, she joined the gym where I worked the very next day.  I guess that was her "aha moment" to lose weight and get in shape.

Today she is very active and has flat abs, and from time to time, we have a good laugh about what made her join the fitness center. Have you had a wake up call to change your lifestyle?  Do you know anyone who has had a similar "aha" moment?

  1. Well at least her embarrassing moment ended up working for her in the end :) That's great that she decided to get in shape!

  2. ahhh.... that's horrible. Honestly watching my mom's health decline was and is still my "aha" moment. My mom has lots of health problems, primarly due to her weight. And I could see myself heading down the same road. I didn't want to wake up one day and be 51 years old and not able to drive or play with my grandchildren because my knees were so give out from all the pressure of my weight. That's my mom right now. She's working on loosing weight too but a lot of the damage may be permenant. I knew I had wake up and take action.

    1. Tell your mom not to give up, it's never too late. I'm glad you woke up about it at an early age and thanks for stopping by.

  3. Not like that, but I definitely had an aha moment last year. I was diagnosed with VERY high blood pressure and was told that there was a good chance I'd have a stroke if I didn't lose weight! I did.

  4. My A-ha moment was 5 months ago when I looked at a picture my husband took of me at the local renaissance festival. I wasn't aware that he had taken the picture of me walking back from the shop and when I saw it, I didn't recognize the chubby mess in the blue gown. Yup, it was me. I joined a gym the following week and have lost 14 pounds attending zumba classes and using the weight machines. LOVE IT!

    1. Pictures can be brutal LOL. They will make you throw away food in a quickness.

  5. Thanks for linking up with Medical Mondays. I think I am in the middle of an ah-ha moment. The only way I can tell that I am gaining weight is by the fit of my bra. I suppose thankfully it goes there first. Time to join a gym!
